and Eating
KONG Microgreens
Microgreens; a plant-based functional food that comprises the immature seedlings of the edible adult plants harvested after around 7–14 days (some varieties longer) of the germination process, are a stellar source of phytochemicals, including essential minerals, polyphenols, carotenoids, chlorophyll, anthocyanins, glucosinolates, etc., which are linked to high antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic effects. Diversity in the microgreen species offers a wide range of health benefits to consumers. Some varieties are up to 40 times the nutritional value of their mature counterparts.

We are passionate about the phenomenal nutritional value of microgreens.
We are also passionate about freshness and low food miles.
Delivering live microgreens in re-usable trays in our local area ticks all these boxes.

Why choose live microgreens?
How do I harvest my micros?
We deliver your mighty micros ready to be harvested at their peak over the week following delivery.
When you are ready to eat, simply cut the amount you need (ideally with a sharp knife or scissors) directly above the soil line, inspect for any seed husks or grit, just like you would with something you grew in your garden, and if you wish, rinse, and eat. Some varieties will have the remains oof the seed hulls which will just brush or rinse off.
We grow our products without any sprays, chemicals or additives, and as they are watered from below, are safe to eat straight from their pot/tray.

How do I care for my micros?
-
Your microgreens are delivered either in a pot holder or a watertight tray. Simply place them out of direct sunlight in a light breeze free area. The kitchen bench is ideal.
-
Check your micros every day and if dry, add a small amount of water to the bottom of the tray, or as required in very warm weather. A good benchmark is to add enough water but no more than will be absorbed within 20 to 30 minutes. Discard/drain any excess.
-
They drink from the bottom, so don't top water. That's it!
Can I order cut microgreens?

If you prefer to have your microgreens cut for you, we can cut on the day of delivery and pack into small tubs (for home pot subscribers), or a fridge ready storage box with 8 compartments (see below) for cafes and chefs.
